15th & 16th May

Dear Students & Parents

Easter is nearly here and our first grading is fast approaching.  We hope everyone is enjoying training, especially with clubs focusing on sport Taekwondo.  Olympic sparring is a big part of Taekwondo and an experience we want to share with all students.  Through competition training, students will refine their skills for sparring and develop better focus.

For those who enjoy the competition, we shall be putting a Brisbane team together for the Gold Coast Open.  Students can enter any of the 3 events at the Gold Coast Open.

On a final note, there are a number of public holidays coming up.  Please note there is no training on public holidays.  However normal classes will continue of school holidays.

Sincerely

 Michael Tan

Assistant Instructors

With the large number of junior yellow and blue belts, we am looking to appoint some senior students as assistant instructors. If you are interested in being an instructor, please let us know during class.  Even if you can only come 30 mins earlier to the junior class, your assistance will be much appreciated.

Buranda Time Table

With the large number of juniors at Buranda, we are looking at making the 4.30pm class White and Yellow belts.  Yellow/white to red belts will be at 5.00pm.  The new trial will commence in Term 2 after the March grading.

Easter Training Times

There will be no training on Thursday 1st April at Buranda as the hall is being used to set-up for Good Friday Easter service.  There will be no classes at Enoggera on Easter Monday 5th April.  Classes will be as normal over the school holidays (1st - 10th April).  Those who are not going away are encouraged to keep training.

2010 Membership renewal

By now everyone should have received their new water bottle, grading book and key ring.  The grading book gets stamped after each successful grading.  It also has the grading syllabus, patterns and terminology sheets.  Students should use this as their first point of reference.

Grading Comp

The first grading of the year is on Sunday 28th March at Springwood high school.  Students will only be require to complete their patterns, jump front kick and sparring (with protective equipment).  Students please check with your instructor to see if you are ready.  We encourage every one to try even if they are not grading.  There is no head contact for safety reasons.  See the flyer on our website for details.  comp grading info 2010.pdf

Tans AFL Footy Tipping

For those who follow the AFL, we have created our own tipping competition.  Go to www.tans.com.au for more details.  Entry is free and there are some great prizes to be won.  Join in the fun and see who is the Master of tipping.

Gold Coast Open

Each year Tans runs the biggest and most successful competition in Queensland.  It is run on the same basis as our grading comp.  This year we have changed the name from the Tans Open to the Gold Coast Open.  The name change was made because we have many competitors from NZ and the other states such as VIC, NSW, SA, WA & ACT.  Promoting the Gold Coast is our way of making the event bigger and better. Club members can watch free of charge.
